A pre-mask is used to help position labels. It is especially common for those labels or signs that are oversized. These labels are often used in conjunction with a repositionable adhesive (such as 3M's ControlTac). Without a pre-mask, it can be extraordinarily difficult to apply such labels without significant operator's skill.
 

	Position the label on the application surface. Pre-mask and label can be easily changed and realigned.
	Use the pre-mask surface for your hand squeegee. This allows you to put maximum pressure on the label and remove all bubbles.
	Once applied, it is easy to remove the pre-mask cleanly
