Pipe Marker design descriptions

You will need to answer three questions here:

  1. What design do you want? There are five common designs for pipe markers. The most popular are the Classic and the Scrunched Designs. The Classic designs may force you to abbreviate your pipe marker legend, if you text is too long. In this situation, use the Scrunched designs, or consider using an upper and lower case legend. For example "Mill Water" takes up less space than "MILL WATER". The Scrunched designs use the Clearview Ultra Condensed font that allows you to squeeze more text onto your marker. For a preview of the pipe marker designs, click on the design names shown below:

  1. How big is my pipe? You will also need to determine the diameter of the pipe. Larger pipes use larger pipe markers. The most common pipes have an outside diameter of 2.5" to 6". For more information, see What size pipe marker is needed?
  2. What color should the pipe marker be? Almost all pipe markers are printed in black on a yellow background, but other colors are used. For help on when to use different colors, click on the page What Color Codes are Used?
