What is a good type font to use for our signs?

Many of our signs, tags and labels use a new font, SmartSigns Clearview®,
that has been specifically developed and tested for warnings. It is
exclusively offered by Electromark. It is based on the new highway
font, Clearview® which has been tested to give motorists an extra
30 feet of reading distance, when traveling at highway speeds.
For a quick illustration of why this
font is important. Look at the letters e, a, and s in the following
illustration.

The letters made from SmartSign Clearview®
(in yellow) remain readable. This is especially true when seen with
degraded vision.

Most signs are approached from an angle
(often with less than perfect vision and lighting). As the population
ages, visual acuity and night-time vision decrease dramatically.
With common sign and label fonts important letters (see the e, a
and S) tend to close up and fill-in: see red circles above.
