What
Should My Sign Say?

Type over the
information in the text blocks. If more than one field is needed, tab from one field to
the next. As you add information to each field, you will see your sign change in the
Preview area of the Wizard. To see a larger version of your sign, click on the Show
Full Screen button. |
Your type will be cut off if your message is too long.
Preview the sign to make sure that your message fits into your design. If your message is
too long, choose another sign design.
For Classic signs, use a short phrase to
describe the hazard and then how to avoid the hazard. For example, "Keep Out!
Hazardous Voltage Inside".
For ANSI signs, you will need to complete
both the primary warning message and a secondary message. Generally, use the primary
message to indicate the necessary Action to take so that you avoid the hazard (for
example, " Do Not Dig"). If possible, then indicate the Nature of the hazard
(for example, "Buried Cable Below"). Use the secondary message to indicate the
potential Consequences if you do not avoid the hazard (for example, "You could be
injured or burned") and a telephone number to call in an emergency (for example,
"Call 212 683-0862 before digging in this area").
For RTK signs, you can either fill in your
information yourself or rely upon an existing chemical database. In filling out your label
from scratch make sure to hae your MSDS handy. Most MSDS's use the 16-part format. If so,
look in Section #1 for the chemical name, synonyms and CAS #.
