Embedded Fiberglass Signs (FibreTec®), FR     
  1. Scope. This specification covers embedded fiberglass signs. Typical applications include for warning signs, signs for architectural directions and buried cable signs.
  2. Material. The sign shall be constructed from polyester and acrylic resins that saturate a printed carrier sheet. Inks shall be screen or laser printed onto the carrier sheet.
  3. Physical Properties. The sign shall have the following characteristics:

  1. UV Stability. The sign shall also be weathered using ASTM D4329 and UVA 340 lamps. After 10,000 hours of exposure in a QUV weathering deck the sign shall remain readable and have little fading. Sample of weathered and printed sign shall remain on file at the manufacturer and is available for review by the customer.
  2. Finish. The sign shall have a [matte, gloss] finish. The code for matte is FM the code for gloss is FG.
  3. Flatness & Bubbles. The sign shall lay flat and have an even, non-rippled finish. A wavy surface or trapped air bubbles will not be acceptable. Finished signs shall have a maximum variation of 3/16" in the convex or concave direction when measured perpendicular to the nominal plane of the sign face.
  4. Thickness and Dimensions. The sign shall be 0.110" thick {FQ-90 mils; FR-60 mils}. The sign shall be [___.___"] high by [___.___"] wide.
  5. Corner Radius and Edge Finish. The signs shall have [square, 1/16" radius, 1/8" corners]. The signs shall have a polished, routed edge and not a shear-cut edge.
  6. Holes and Chain-Link Fence Clips. All signs shall have [4, 6, __, no] holes. The holes shall have a diameter of [1/16", 1/8", 1/4", 1/2", ___]. The holes shall [not] use a brass grommet. The centerline of the holes shall be [____] from the edges of the sign.
  7. Fence Clips [optional]. For signs that will be hung on a fence, the sign shall be provided with [two, four] aluminum fence clips. The holes in the sign shall be spaced so that the fence clips will properly align themselves to the standard diamond repeat of the chain-link fence, including allowable deviations. Typically, the centerline of the holes shall be spaced 3-1/2" apart. The fence clip shall be fabricated from a 0.090" thick aluminum and a 1/4-20 locking PEM insert. A [tamper-proof] bolt shall be provided for each hole.
  8. Chemical Resistance. The material shall have the following resistance to exposure using DIN 42 115 Part 2:

  1. Warranty. Workmanship and quality shall be such that all lettering is sharp, legible, straight, and aligned properly. Smudges, misalignment, mis-wording, misspelling, crooked letters, incorrect color, incorrect materials, and any other problems that show poor quality and workmanship will give sufficient cause to reject any sign or shipment of signs. The products are to be guaranteed by the vendor to be free of workmanship or material defect. If, for reasons of workmanship or material defect, the sign becomes unreadable or unfit for its purpose during a period of ten years, the vendor shall replace the sign at no additional charge. If the sign fails in the tenth through seventeenth year, the vendor shall replace or refund the price of the sign or signs that have failed on a pro-rata basis.

OUR PRODUCTS ARE SOLD WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THAT THE USER WILL DETERMINE THEIR ADAPTABILITY FOR HIS INTENDED USES. WE ARE NOT BOUND BY ANY OTHER WARRANTY, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE WE LIABLE FOR ANY LOSS, DAMAGE, EXPENSE OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY KIND ARISING OUT OF THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE OUR PRODUCTS.

SIGNS THAT ARE HUNG IN A FLAT, NON-VERTICAL ORIENTATION ARE NOT COVERED BY THIS WARRANTY.
