Adhesive Phosphorescent Labels, GH
  1. Scope. This specification covers phosphorescent labels for indoor use. Common applications include EXIT signs, safety signs, first aid marking and fire lane marking. The labels glow in darkness once they have been exposed to natural or artificial light. Methods of excitation include incandescent, fluorescent and black lighting as well as direct and indirect sunlight. These labels will glow the brightest during first 30 minutes after activation has ceased and will remain visible to the night (darkness) adapted eye for many hours later.
  2. Material. The label shall be constructed from a polyester and vinyl film and an acrylic adhesive saturated with phosphorescent pigments. The label shall have a 0.006" thickness. The rigid version of the signs ("GF") shall be mounted to polystyrene and have a thickness of 0.030".
  3. Physical Properties. The label shall have the following characteristics:

  1. Finish. The label shall have a gloss finish.
  2. Luminescence. The film shall achieve luminescence values, listed as follows:

  1. Warranty. Workmanship and quality shall be such that all lettering is sharp, legible, straight, and aligned properly. The edges shall be smooth and free of splinters. Smudges, misalignment, mis-wording, misspelling, crooked letters, incorrect color, incorrect materials, and any other problems that show poor quality and workmanship will give sufficient cause to reject any sign or shipment of signs. The products are to be guaranteed by the vendor to be free of workmanship or material defect.
