1. Scope. This specification covers hanging signs, often incorporating removable inserts. Typical applications include signs for radiological postings and temporary work area signs. Many signs include a slot for attachment to a rope.
2. Material. The base for J1, J2 and J3material shall be a 0.125" thick Lexan or polycarbonate sheet. For DH, it shall be a 0.090" Lexan. For DH, J2 and JC signs, the base material shall be covered with a 0.020" clear Lexan sheet (with J3 signs having this top sheet on both sides). The clear top Lexan film shall be seperated from the base material by a foam adhesive having a 0.032" thickness.
3. Coating and Printing. The sign shall be screen printed. The printing type style shall be Clearview, Helvetica or Univers. The colors used shall follow the ANSI Z535.1-1998 color codes and shall be as follows:

4. Radiation Signs. The radiation symbol shall follow ANSI N2.1-89and the magenta shall be as defined in Title 10 CFR Part 20, paragraph 20, 1901.
5. Chemical Resistance. The material shall have the following resistance to exposure using DIN 42 115 Part 2:

6. Physical Characteristics. The sign shall have the following characteristics:

7. Weathering. A sign shall be weathered using ASTM D4329 and UVA 340 lamps. After 5,000 hours of exposure in a QUV weathering deck the sign shall remain readable. Sample of weathered and printed sign shall remain on file at the manufacturer and is available for review by the customer.
8. Dimensions. The sign shall have round corners. For J1, J2 and J3 signs, there shall be a 0.50" O.D. grommet in each corner. The top of the sign shall have slots which allows the sign to have stationary suspension from a 1/4" rope without physically threading either end of the rope through the slots. Tie wraps or nylon fasteners shall not be used.For documents Holders ("DH") there shall be no slots or grommets. Instead the sign shall have a back surface covered with a 0.032" foam adhesive. The top film of the Document Holder shall have a thumb slot.
9. Thumb Slots. J2 and J3 signs shall have thumb slots cut into the right side of the top Lexan layer.
10. Corners & Holes. The tag shall square corners. The tag shall have one hole in the center.
11. Packaging. 100 tags shall be packaged in a recloseable bag.
12. UL Approval. Signs shall meet the UL 10B test for a 3 hour fire rating.
13. Warranty. Workmanship and quality shall be such that all lettering is sharp, legible, straight, and aligned properly. Smudges, misalignment, mis-wording, misspelling, crooked letters, incorrect color, incorrect materials, and any other problems that show poor quality and workmanship will give sufficient cause to reject any tag. The products are to be guaranteed by the vendor to be free of workmanship or material defect.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE WE LIABLE FOR ANY LOSS, DAMAGE, EXPENSE OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY KIND ARISING OUT OF THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE OUR PRODUCTS.
