Magnetic-Backed Signs, M2
  1. Scope. This specification covers magnetic signs used for track, tailboards or inventory identification in a warehouse.
  2. Base Material. The three grades of magnetic material are as follows:
  • MF: 20 mils thick with a 52#/square foot pull strength
  • MG: 60 mils thick with a 210#/square foot pull strength
  • M2: Same as MF, but laminated with engineer grade reflective film.
  1. Overlamination [optional]. The label or sign shall be overlaminated with a 0.001" thick clear acrylic film having a 0.001" thick solvent based acrylic adhesive. Standard labels have a code of "AC" and overlaminated labels have a code of "A1"

  1. Weathering. After 1,000 hours of exposure in a QUV weathering deck the label shall remain adhered and readable. Sample of weathered and printed label shall remain on file at label manufacturer and is available for review by the customer.
  2. Printing & Processing. Conventional solvent-based acrylic inks shall be used. The printing type style shall be Clearview, Helvetica or Univers. If colors are used they shall follow the ANSI Z535.1-1998 color codes and shall be as follows:

  1. Installation. The labels shall be applied to a clean, dry surface. Use a 3M Scotchbrite pad (or equivalent) to remove any surface oxidation, dirt or paint chalking from application surface and to rough up the surface. After this treatment the surface shall be cleaned with Surface Prep 77 or equal. Labels shall be applied at temperatures above 40ºF.
  2. Packaging. 25 signs or labels shall be packaged in a polyethylene bag or vacuum formed package. Each bag or package shall be identified with the item description, inspector, date, quantity and part number. Bags or packages shall then be packaged in a corrugated carton. Each carton shall contain only one label design. The outside of each box shall be labeled with the part number and/or utility code number, description and quantity.
  3. Warranty. Workmanship and quality shall be such that all lettering is sharp, legible, straight, and aligned properly. Smudges, misalignment, miss-wording, misspelling, crooked letters, incorrect color, incorrect materials, and any other problems that show poor quality and workmanship will give sufficient cause to reject any decal or shipment of decals. The products are to be guaranteed by the vendor to be free of workmanship or material defect. If, for reasons of workmanship or material defect, the marker becomes unreadable during a period of five years, the vendor shall replace the marker at no additional charge.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE WE LIABLE FOR ANY LOSS, DAMAGE, EXPENSE OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY KIND ARISING OUT OF THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE OUR PRODUCTS.
