1. Scope. This specification covers signs and tags made from Polystyrene. These products are used for marking utility poles, stations, and cables and as indoor/outdoor safety signage.
2. Material. The base material is Polystyrene copolymer resin. For "ZP" construction signs, the base polystyrene material shall be laminated to a calendered vinyl. This film shall have a minimum thickness of 0.001" of a solvent-based, acrylic adhesive and a paper liner. The label shall be laminated to the polystyrene base material.
3. Printing. This product is printed using screen printing inks designed for extended outdoor life. An addition of a clear UV cured overcoat with may be added to improve the products chemical and scratch resistance.
4. Chemical Resistance. This product exhibited the following resistance to exposure using DIN 42 115 Part 2.

6. Weathering. A sign shall be weathered using ASTM D4329 and UVA 340 Lamps. For "AP" after 2,000 hours of light exposure in a QUV Weathering deck the sign shall remain readable. For "PS" signs after 1,000 hours of light exposure in a QUV Weathering deck the sign shall remain readable. Sample of a printed and weathered sign shall remain on file at the manufacturer and is available for review by the customer.
7. Dimensions. This product will be manufactured to meet individual customer specifications for size, holes and corners.
8. Colors and thickness. Polystyrene comes in a wide variety of colors, all with the addition of UV inhibitors to improve fade resistance. Stock colors include white, yellow, orange red and blue. Stock thicknesses are 20 mil, 35mil, 63 mil and 90 mil. Other thickness’ available.
9. Packaging. Each box of signs or tags shall contain only one design. No one box shall weigh over 35 pounds.
10. Warranty. Workmanship and quality shall be such that all lettering is sharp legible, straight, and aligned properly. Smudges, misalignment, miss-wording, miss-spelling, crooked letters, incorrect color, and any other problems that show poor workmanship will give sufficient cause to reject any part. These products are to be guaranteed by the vendor to be free of workmanship or material defect
