Tedlar Laminated Labels, PT
  1. Scope. This specification covers polyester Tedlar labels laminated with an exterior grade polyvinyl fluoride (Tedlar). Typical applications include outdoor labels, luminaire labels and labels used in extremely harsh chemical environments
  2. Base Material. The base film shall be a 0.002" thick polyester film, ICI 329 or equivalent for "PT". The base film for "TD" shall be 0.001" thick white Tedar®. The base film shall have a minimum thickness of 0.001" of a solvent-based, acrylic adhesive and a paper liner. The liner shall be a 90# type with a thickness of 0.007".
  3. Tedlar Overlamination. The label shall be overlaminated with a 0.001" thick clear Tedlar® film having a 0.001" thick solvent based acrylic adhesive.

  1. Adhesive Performance. The adhesive shall be a 0.001" thick acrylic adhesive having the following minimum values:
  • Peel Strength (PSTC #1 at 70ºF and a 72 hour dwell)
    on Stainless Steel 80 ounces/inch of width
    on Polyester 70 ounces/inch of width
  • Shear Strength (PSTC #7 at 70ºF) 20 hours
  1. Weathering. After 5,000 hours of exposure in a QUV weathering deck the label shall remain adhered and readable. Sample of weathered and printed label shall remain on file at label manufacturer and is available for review by the customer.

  1. Backslit. Labels shall have a backslit liner so that the liner can be easily removed.

  4. Ink Color & Printing: Conventional solvent-base or UV inks shall be used. The printing type style shall be Clearview, Helvetica or Univers. Safety colors shall follow ANSI Z535.1-1991. Colors shall be as follows:

  1. Installation. The labels shall be applied to a clean, dry surface. Use a 3M Scotchbrite pad (or equivalent) to remove any surface oxidation, dirt or paint chalking from application surface and to rough up the surface. After this treatment the surface shall be cleaned with Surface Prep 77 or equal. Labels shall be applied at temperatures above 45ºF.
  2. Packaging. 25 labels or cards of labels shall be packaged in a polyethylene bag or vacuum formed package. Each bag or package shall be identified with the item description, inspector, date, quantity and part number. Bags or packages shall then be packaged in a corrugated carton. Each carton shall contain only one label design. The outside of each box shall be labeled with the part number and/or utility code number, description and quantity.
  3. Warranty. Workmanship and quality shall be such that all lettering is sharp, legible, straight, and aligned properly. Smudges, misalignment, miss-wording, misspelling, crooked letters, incorrect color, incorrect materials, and any other problems that show poor quality and workmanship will give sufficient cause to reject any label. The products are to be guaranteed by the vendor to be free of workmanship or material defect. If, for reasons of workmanship or material defect, the label becomes unreadable during a period of five years, the vendor shall replace the label at no additional charge. [Note: warranty is only valid for standard, non-fluorescent labels.]

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE WE LIABLE FOR ANY LOSS, DAMAGE, EXPENSE OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY KIND ARISING OUT OF THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE OUR PRODUCTS.
