| How Will My Tag Hold Up Against The
Wind And Rain? |
 |
When most people think
of tags, they think of paper tags, which, of course, don’t last.
Paper tags mildew, rip and become illegible in the rain. Certain plastic
tags also fail easily. Vinyl or Tyvek tags, for example, can embrittle
with age and blow off. Self-laminating polyester tags, however, are
exceptionally durable. Used by hundreds of companies, they have been
proven to hold up even in high wind and desert environments. Unlike
the others, they meet OSHA durability requirements. “Tagout
device [shall have] an unlocking strength of no less than 50 pounds”
§1910.147 (c)(5)(C)(2). Polyester tags are stronger than vinyl
tags. We know. Ask us about a failure we had with a California utility
and 15 mils vinyl tags. Their first big storm came and a large number
of them blew off. From that point on, we have made sure that we recommend
polyester.
Our newest constructions, LaserLOTO® and ThermoLOTO™ , are
increasingly popular. Like the other polyester tags, these laser or
thermal printable constructions provide excellent weather and tear
resistance, but at an economical price. |
