| When Should I Use Bilingual Signs? |
 |
There is no definitive
answer to this question, although a number of our customers have given
us their own guidelines. Here are some hints of when to use a bilingual
sign: (1) Spanish newspapers and radio stations are prevalent in the
area, (2) primary education is available in both Spanish and English
in the school, or (3) workplace instructions are frequently translated
into Spanish. The recent court rulings on this topic should be consulted,
yet again, our belief is that the sign should try to reach as wide
an audience as possible.
On the other hand, it can be hard to make sure that a dual language
sign is clear and not cluttered. The new ANSI guidelines on how to
organize bilingual signs, though, can be useful here. |
